Broken braces wire or bracket?

What to do before you call
- Do not cut the wire yourself. Explain which side is poking and whether a bracket is loose.
- Use orthodontic wax if you already have it. Follow the product instructions and avoid forcing anything into place.
- Tell us about injury or swelling. A hard hit to the mouth, heavy bleeding, or significant swelling needs different guidance.
When to seek emergency medical care
Go to an emergency department for trouble breathing or swallowing, heavy bleeding that will not stop, a serious face or jaw injury, or a medical emergency.
